Thought provoking episode--I'm not trying to advocate for the existence of ghosts (I've never seen one), but considering your logic, I do have a question: what, specifically, is consciousness?

Funny you should ask. The question is above virtually anybody's pay-grade, but I do have some (very long term) plans in the works to talk about this very thing.

But, regarding consciousness and entropy... it's a doozy of a paradox, and among those scientists who don't believe that there IS such a thing as consciousness, entropy is one of the reasons why. It's also possible that consciousness is a byproduct of entropy (as this study suggests: https://arxiv.org/abs/1606.00821 ) or that consciousness isn't a static state at all.

But before we go off the deep end, it's important to remember that life manages to exist in spite of entropy, because living organisms are not closed systems, and therefore aren't subject, in the short term, to the second law. Put another way, ghosts become less impossible if you give them a food source.

OR! I have no idea what I'm talking about. Which is quite probable!
